What We’ve Done

Within the past several years, our organization has enjoyed outstanding growth. We’ve worked diligently to achieve and maintain that growth by securing private and corporate sponsorship for our yearly projects and events.

Our most notable accomplishments are:

  • Raise community awareness through our Preservation Communqué Magazine
  • Publish Lafayette City-Parish Register of Historic Properties book
  • Provide support to the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation
  • Raise funds for restoration projects to save or maintain local non-profit Landmarks.  The most recent being:
    • Funding to help with much needed repairs to the exterior of The Lafayette Museum, circa 1898, Alexandre Mouton House
    • Funding to help restore Lafayette’s First City Hall, La Vieille Mairie
    • Support for restoration project at Vermilionville, Maison Acadienne, circa 1860 school house from the Mouton Plantation
  • Administered a preservation scholarship program for secondary school teachers


  • 2010 Recognition Award for La Maison Acadienne Re-birth Project at Vermilionville
  • 2008 Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation – Preservation Honor Award
  • 2007 Preserve America Community Designation

Preservation Alliance of Lafayette

Work to encourage the preservation of our historic architecture and maintain attractive historic neighborhoods.

Assist historic property owners with restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive re-use, using US National Park Service Historic Preservation Guidelines

Promote historic and cultural preservation within the Lafayette community, increasing citizen awareness, appreciation, and participation.
